Determinants of an Environmentally Sustainable Model for Competitiveness

K. Noorliza

Summary: Environmental practices in the logistics industry are important for environmental sustainability, but the engagement of logistics professionals and logistics service providers (LSPs) with these practices is not well understood. This paper examines the human-environment connection within the context of LSPs to develop an environmentally sustainable model through environmental leadership. The findings suggest that intrinsic attributes of leaders, such as emotional and biospheric values, play a significant role in fostering environmental practices. The study also highlights the importance of green actions and sustainability in enhancing reputation, competitiveness, and environmental preservation in the logistics industry.

Nexuses among Green Supply Chain Management, Green Human Capital, Managerial Environmental Knowledge, and Firm Performance: Evidence from a Developing Country

Naila Nureen et al.

Summary: The increasing pressures from various stakeholders have urged manufacturing firms to adopt environmentally friendly production methods and pursue green innovation in developing countries. However, little research has been conducted on the relationship between green supply chain management (GSCM), green human capital (GHC), green innovation (GIN), managerial environmental knowledge (MEK), and firm performance (FPR). This study fills this research gap by providing empirical evidence that implementing GSCM, GHC, GIN, and MEK can substantially enhance FPR. The findings suggest that GIN mediates the link between GHC, GSCM, and FPR, while MEK directly affects FPR and moderates the relationship between GIN and FPR. The study has both theoretical and managerial implications, and the results can benefit practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders seeking to improve FPR.

Nexus between corporate social responsibility and firm performance: a green innovation and environmental sustainability paradigm

Naila Nureen et al.

Summary: Climate change concerns and the immense usage of fossil fuels have posed severe challenges to sustainable development in developing countries. The government has effectively employed green practices to tackle these challenges. This study investigates the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on firm performance in a developing country (China) by analyzing data from 650 respondents in manufacturing firms. The results show that CSR does not directly affect firm performance. However, it is positively related to green transformational leadership and green innovation, which in turn improve firm performance. Furthermore, green innovation and green transformational leadership mediate the relationship between CSR and firm performance. This study provides valuable insights for managers and policymakers in managing CSR, green innovation, and green transformational leadership to enhance firm performance.
