Injectable engineered micro/nano-complexes trigger the reprogramming of bone immune epigenetics

Xindie Zhou et al.

Summary: This study explores the use of epigenetic reprogramming of microfluidic microsphere systems to regulate microenvironmental homeostasis and facilitate bone regeneration in the acute phase of fracture. The system significantly prolongs the release time of active ingredients, promotes the polarization of macrophages to the M2 phenotype, and activates osteogenic differentiation and angiogenesis. Animal experiments confirmed its effectiveness in accelerating bone regeneration in a rat femoral condyle defect. The Gelma@Lip@Pla microgel shows great potential as a delivery platform for treating bone defects and immune-related diseases involving macrophages.

Fabrication of porous-Ti6Al4V alloy by using hot pressing technique and Mg space holder for hard-tissue biomedical applications

N. Aslan et al.

Summary: Porous-Ti6Al4V (P-Ti6Al4V) alloys were produced with varying porosities and tested for mechanical and morphological properties. It was found that an increase in porosity resulted in decreased elastic modulus and densities. Additionally, analysis revealed that macropores influenced mechanical anisotropy in the material.
