Spatial and Temporal Changes in Hydrological Regionalization of Lowland Rivers

Vytautas Akstinas et al.

Summary: Regionalization of lowland rivers is performed based on Lithuanian rivers using long data series and selected hydrological characteristics. Three hydrological regions (Western, Central, and South-eastern) are determined, and it is found that some catchments in the Central region have changed their flow behavior.

Disinfection of Therapeutic Spa Waters: Applicability of Sodium Hypochlorite and Hydrogen Peroxide-Based Disinfectants

Dora Gere et al.

Summary: The microbial water quality of therapeutic pools without disinfection is a recurrent health risk. This study compared the applicability of a hydrogen peroxide-based disinfectant with hypochlorite in therapeutic water. The disinfection efficacy and fate of therapeutic components were tested under laboratory conditions. Hydrogen peroxide showed better efficacy but required close control of residual disinfectant concentration.

Chlorination for low-cost household water disinfection-A critical review and status in three Latin American countries

A. M. Nielsen et al.

Summary: Chlorination has been commonly used for providing safe drinking water, but there are challenges in effective implementation. A literature review focusing on three Latin American countries found that guidance on household-based chlorination may not incentivize users enough. Moreover, variations in water quality are often overlooked in recommending chlorine doses. User preferences, chlorine product quality, and availability also pose barriers to the sustainable use of chlorination.

The Use of Sodium Hypochlorite at Point-of-Use to Remove Microcystins from Water Containers

Matodzi Michael Mokoena et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that treating water containers with sodium hypochlorite can effectively reduce the concentration of microcystins to an acceptable level, thereby decreasing related health issues.
