Dysregulation of Rnf 213 gene contributes to T cell response via antigen uptake, processing, and presentation

Ryosuke Tashiro et al.

Summary: The study found that RNF213 plays a critical role in antigen uptake, processing, and presentation, with Rnf213-KO and Rnf213-KI mice experiments showing that RNF213 deficiency leads to decreased antigen uptake and processing capabilities, resulting in the inability to effectively activate antigen-specific T cells.

Pain in the temple? Headache, muscle pain or both: A retrospective analysis

Fernando G. Exposto et al.

Summary: The study found that headache attributed to temporomandibular disorders was almost always diagnosed together with myalgia of the temporalis, indicating a substantial overlap between the two diagnoses. Therefore, it can be considered that headache attributed to temporomandibular disorders and myalgia of the temporalis muscle have more clinical similarities than differences and could be seen as one clinical entity. Further research is needed to investigate the clinical implications of this finding.

Migraine and neuroinflammation: the inflammasome perspective

Oguzhan Kursun et al.

Summary: Neuroinflammatory pathways, especially those involving inflammasome proteins, show promise as potential treatment targets and even biomarkers in migraine. The activation of inflammasomes can stimulate trigeminal neurons and contribute to the generation of migraine pain, making them an important focus in migraine research. The NLRP3 inflammasome, in particular, is well-studied and has been implicated in various inflammatory pain conditions, including migraine.

Using Monozygotic Twins to Dissect Common Genes in Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Migraine

Charlotte K. Bainomugisa et al.

Summary: Epigenetic mechanisms were associated with genes involved in PTSD and migraine. Using a monozygotic twin disease discordant study design, researchers identified candidate genes associated with PTSD and novel CpG sites associated with PTSD within/near specific genes. Furthermore, genes associated with both PTSD and migraine were enriched in specific signaling pathways, suggesting common genetic factors and pathways may contribute to the comorbidity between PTSD and migraine.

Cardiogenic shock in Taiwan from 2003 to 2017 (CSiT-15 study)

Shih-Chieh Chien et al.

Summary: This study investigated temporal trends in the treatment and mortality of patients with cardiogenic shock (CS) in Taiwan in relation to acute myocardial infarction (AMI) accreditation implemented in 2009 and the unavailability of percutaneous ventricular assist devices. Results showed that over the past 15 years, the incidence rate and inpatient costs of CS patients have continuously increased, but mortality has decreased, especially in patients with AMI-CS.
