Re volatilization at elevated temperatures: Interest of Re-doped SnO2 for nuclear waste vitrification

Jing Wang et al.

Summary: Incorporation of Re into the lattice of SnO2 reduced its volatility, especially showing a faster evaporation rate in air compared to N-2. Additionally, mixing Re into SnO2 decreased the loss of Re and inhibited the volatilization of Re7+, thereby enhancing Re retention.

Rapid Self-Decomposition of g-C3N4 During Gas-Solid Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction and Its Effects on Performance Assessment

Peng Chen et al.

Summary: This study reports the rapid self-decomposition of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) during gas-solid photocatalytic reaction, with the products including CO, CO2, NO2, and NO2-/NO3-. The research reveals the influence of adsorbed hydroxyl groups and photogenerated charge carriers on the instability of the catalyst, and demonstrates that self-decomposition reaction is more thermodynamically favorable than CO2 reduction reaction.

Summary: Different synthesis temperatures were applied to synthesize g-C3N4 with the highest photocatalytic activity. The best performing g-C3N4 photocatalyst was synthesized at 550 degrees C. The photocatalytic activity was further improved by preparing g-C3N4/TiO2 composites with varying weight concentrations. The best composite had 50 wt% of g-C3N4 and underwent 2 hours of calcination at 350 degrees C.
