Long-term coal chemical looping gasification using a bimetallic oxygen carrier of natural hematite and copper ore

Siqi Liu et al.

Summary: Coal chemical looping gasification (CCLG) is a promising technology with high resource utilization rate and environmental protection properties, requiring suitable oxygen carriers and optimized operating conditions for coal conversion and H2&CO production. This study tested a Cu-Fe bi-ore oxygen carrier and found that the optimal gasification conditions were at 950 degrees C with a oxygen carrier-to-coal mass ratio of 3:1 and steam rate of 0.08 ml/min, achieving a syngas yield of 58 mmol/g, 75.2% syngas selectivity, and 85.3% carbon conversion.

Low-rank coal pyrolysis polygeneration technology with semi-coke heat carrier based on the dual-fluidized bed to co-produce electricity, oil and chemical products: Process simulation and techno-economic evaluation

Yao Zhu et al.

Summary: Pyrolysis polygeneration technology is a good solution for clean and efficient utilization of low-rank coal, and the choice of heat carrier is crucial. This study successfully established a low-rank coal pyrolysis staged conversion polygeneration technology using a dual-fluidized bed, and conducted techno-economic, environmental, and sensitivity analysis. The results show that this technology outperforms traditional coal-fired power plants in terms of energy loss, CO2 emissions, and internal rate of return.

Experimental characterization of the effect of liquid viscosity on collisions between a multi-component droplet and a heated particle

Lili Shao et al.

Summary: Understanding droplet-particle collisions is crucial for spray coating processes. This study focuses on the collision of a droplet with a heated particle at temperatures ranging from 35°C to 150°C. The viscosity of the droplet is adjusted by adding Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC), and the results show that increasing viscosity affects the collision outcomes. The thickness of the film formed during the collision process exhibits three phases.

Experimental investigation of temperature distribution and hydrodynamics characterization in a high-temperature gas-solid fluidized bed with sidewall liquid injection

Pengfei Geng et al.

Summary: This paper investigated the effects of liquid injection on heat and mass transfer, as well as fluidization behavior in a fluidized bed. The results showed that liquid flow rate expansion increased the liquid injection zone, while superficial gas velocity decrease narrowed it. Liquid evaporation promoted bubble generation and pressure fluctuation intensity increased with liquid flow rate.

Hydrodynamics and heat transfer in a fluidized bed with liquid spray: Particle color-change based measurement and modelling

Jingyuan Sun et al.

Summary: This study visualizes the liquid-containing particles and liquid dispersion pathway in fluidized beds using a unique reversible thermochromic material tracking method. The effects of evaporative liquid under different nozzle modes on heat transfer performance were investigated. The results showed that liquid injection decreases particle fluctuation and promotes bubble generation, with different liquid dispersion behaviors under different spray modes.

A volatile spray zone model and experimentation in a gas-solid fluidized bed with liquid injection

Sihang Tian et al.

Summary: By developing a mesoscale-theory based model, this study characterizes complex flow behaviors in a gas-solid fluidized bed with volatile liquid injection, and establishes a new energy-based stability condition to describe liquid existence forms and fluidization properties. The simulation results agree well with experimental data, revealing that the variation of liquid existence forms depends on the ratio of different energy consumption rates.

Fluidized-bed homogeneous granulation process: Comparison of individual and mixed precipitation of cobalt and copper

Jin Anotai et al.

Summary: The study investigated the recovery of cobalt (Co2+) and copper (Cu2+) from synthetic wastewater using the fluidized-bed homogeneous granulation (FBHG) process, showing that efficient granulation and removal can be achieved under specific pH and [CO32-]:[M2+] molar ratio conditions. The optimal conditions for maximum efficiency were found to be pH 8.5 and [CO32-]:[M2+] molar ratio of 2.0 for both metals, indicating the feasibility of FBHG in treating Co2+ and Cu2+ containing wastewater in industrial applications.
