The prospects of organic semiconductor single crystals for spintronic applications

Mingyi Ding et al.

Summary: Organic semiconductor single crystals (OSSCs) have high mobility and ultra-long spin relaxation times, making them promising for organic spintronic applications. Current research is still in the heuristic stage, facing both challenges and opportunities. Key discussions include the impact of molecular and stacking structures on spin diffusion length, as well as the current state and future prospects of device fabrication technology based on OSSCs.

Single crystal field-effect transistor of tetrabenzoporphyrin with a one-dimensionally extended columnar packing motif exhibiting efficient charge transport properties

Juanjuan Zhu et al.

Summary: 5,15-Bis(triisopropylsilyl)ethynyltetrabenzoporphyrin (TIPS-H2BP) forms a one-dimensionally extended columnar packing motif, which shows better hole mobility in its single crystal field-effect transistor compared to its metal complexes. Efficient charge transport is achieved through pi-pi stacking along the tetrabenzoporphyrin units.

High mobility n-type organic semiconductors with tunable exciton dynamics toward photo-stable and photo-sensitive transistors

Li Yu et al.

Summary: In this study, two novel organic semiconductors with the same backbone but different halogen substituent groups were synthesized, leading to the design of tunable exciton dynamics in organic semiconductors. One of the semiconductors exhibited good photo-stability under light irradiation, while the other one showed good photo-sensitive characteristics. The mechanisms behind these properties were revealed through optical spectrum analysis.

Influence of Stacking Order of Phthalocyanine and Fullerene Layers on the Photoexcited Carrier Dynamics in Model Organic Solar Cell

Kenichi Ozawa et al.

Summary: In this study, time-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was used to investigate the influence of stacking order of CuPc and C-60 in organic photovoltaics on photoexcited carrier dynamics. The results show that electron transfer is facilitated in CuPc/C-60/TiO2 stacking, while fast electron transfer is suppressed in C-60/CuPc/TiO2 stacking.

Metal screening effect on energy levels at metal/organic interface: Precise determination of screening energy using photoelectron and inverse-photoelectron spectroscopies

Takumi Aihara et al.

Summary: The energy level alignment at the metal/organic interface plays a crucial role in determining the charge injection/extraction efficiency of electrodes in organic semiconductor devices. The metal screening effect can modify the charge injection/collection barrier at the metal/organic interface by as much as 0.25 eV, and this effect can be accurately reproduced by the image charge model.

Influence of the metal phthalocyanine molecular orientation on charge separation at the organic donor/acceptor interface

Heeseon Lim et al.

Summary: The molecular orientation of metal phthalocyanine molecules plays a crucial role in the performance of organic photovoltaics (OPVs), with copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) showing a stronger change in orientation compared to zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) under identical process conditions. This difference in orientation leads to a significant impact on the interfacial dipole orientation and energy offset at the donor/acceptor (D/A) interface, ultimately affecting the performance of the OPV device.
