Changes in Disparities in Stage of Breast Cancer Diagnosis in Pennsylvania After the Affordable Care Act

Summary: The study found that the implementation of ACA in Pennsylvania was associated with an increase in the proportion of early-stage breast cancer diagnosis among women aged 50-64 by 1.71%, while no change was seen in women aged 68-74. Minority women had lower odds of early-stage breast cancer diagnosis pre-ACA, but this disparity was reduced post-ACA. Additionally, higher area-level socioeconomic advantage was associated with increased odds of early-stage breast cancer diagnosis both pre- and post-ACA.
