Modified thoracoabdominal nerve block through perichondrial approach (M-TAPA) vs local infiltration for pain management after laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery: a randomized study

Hande Gungor et al.

Summary: This study compared modified thoracoabdominal nerves block through perichondrial approach (M-TAPA) with local infiltration in terms of pain management for patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). The results showed that M-TAPA provided better analgesia, higher patient satisfaction, and less need for rescue analgesics.

Analgesic effect of erector spinae plane block in adults undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

Xiaoli Yang et al.

Summary: Ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane block provides effective postoperative analgesia and reduces opioid consumption in adult patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. It also decreases the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting.

Single-shot regional anesthesia for laparoscopic cholecystectomies: a systematic review and network meta-analysis

Alessandro De Cassai et al.

Summary: A network meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the effect of different regional anesthesia techniques on patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The results showed that regional anesthesia techniques are effective in reducing intraoperative opioid use, postoperative pain, and postoperative nausea and vomiting. Bilateral paravertebral, rectus sheath, quadratus lumborum, and transversus abdominis plane blocks were found to be the most effective techniques.

Summary: Ultrasound-guided bilateral subcostal TAPB provides efficient postoperative analgesia with an opioid-sparing effect after laparoscopic gastrectomy, but does not significantly reduce opioid-related side effects.

Three-port versus four-port technique for laparoscopic cholecystectomy: systematic review and meta-analysis

Lawrence Nip et al.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis compared the outcomes of three-port versus four-port techniques in laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The three-port group showed advantages in terms of hospital stay and postoperative analgesia, but there were no differences in procedure length, success rate, or adverse events between the two groups. Experienced surgeons can choose the three-port technique, but it may not be the best option for more complicated cases.

Erector Spinae Plane Block versus Transversus Abdominis Plane Block for Postoperative Analgesia in Abdominal Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Lin Liheng et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis compared the analgesic effect between erector spinae plane block (ESPB) and transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block in abdominal surgery. The results showed that ESPB reduced opioid consumption, improved pain scores, prolonged blockade duration, and decreased the occurrence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) compared to the TAP block, but it did not improve patients' satisfaction.

Novel external oblique muscle plane block for blockade of the lateral abdominal wall: a pilot study on volunteers

Yuichi Ohgoshi et al.

Summary: This study investigated an effective procedure for blocking the lateral cutaneous branches in the abdominal region. The results suggest that the novel EXOP blocks efficiently anesthetize the lateral cutaneous branches and has the potential to be used in combination to anesthetize the entire abdominal wall.
