Light lepton portal dark matter meets the LHC

Syuhei Iguro et al.

Summary: We examine the sensitivity of the LHC to light lepton portal dark matter and evaluate the constraints and discovery potential using LHC Run 2 data and the HL-LHC. The model involves an extra scalar field and singlet dark matter with Yukawa interactions with left-handed leptons. The study focuses on the electroweak pair-production of the extra scalars and their decays, as well as the unique prediction of same-sign charged scalar production.

Lattice calculation of the short and intermediate time-distance hadronic vacuum polarization contributions to the muon magnetic moment using twisted-mass fermions

C. Alexandrou et al.

Summary: In this study, we calculate the leading-order hadronic vacuum polarization (HVP) contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment in the short and intermediate time-distance windows. The lattice determination is based on the gauge ensembles produced by the Extended Twisted Mass Collaboration (ETMC) with Nf = 2 + 1 + 1 flavors of Wilson-clover twisted-mass quarks. We find consistency with some experimental results in the short-distance window, but deviations in the intermediate window.

Joint explanation of W-mass and muon g-2 in the 2HDM

Xiao-Fang Han et al.

Summary: This study examines the anomalies of W-mass and muon g - 2 reported by CDF II and FNAL using a model with mu-tau lepton flavor violation interactions. The results show that there are parameter spaces where the CDF W-mass, FNAL muon g - 2, and lepton universality in tau decays can be simultaneously satisfied, but with strict constraints on the mass splittings among extra Higgs bosons.

Data-driven evaluations of Euclidean windows to scrutinize hadronic vacuum polarization

G. Colangelo et al.

Summary: This paper discusses how windows in Euclidean time can be used to identify the source of potential conflicts between the hadronic-vacuum-polarization (HVP) contribution to the muon's anomalous magnetic moment in lattice QCD and e(+)e(-) -> hadrons cross-section data. Comparison numbers are provided for window quantities commonly studied in lattice QCD, evaluated from e(+)e(-) -> hadron data, including the correlations among them. Modifications of window parameters are discussed and evaluated, which may be useful in analyzing the energy dependence of tensions in the HVP integral.

Scalar dark matter with a μΤ flavored mediator

Kento Asai et al.

Summary: This study investigates a renormalizable scalar singlet dark matter model based on Z4 lepton flavor symmetry, with the introduction of a mu tau-philic scalar doublet as a mediator connecting dark matter and standard model particles. The flavor off-diagonal interactions of scalar mediators help to easily maintain the observed relic abundance of dark matter and satisfy the current severe constraints from various experiments and observations. The possibility of dark matter direct detection through a one-loop process is also explored, and it is found that the relic abundance of dark matter and the discrepancy of the muon anomalous magnetic moment can be explained simultaneously by the mu tau-philic scalar mediator.

Prospects for a flavour violating Z′ explanation of Δaμ,e

J. Kriewald et al.

Summary: The apparent tensions observed in the experimental data could be a signal of New Physics and can be explained by a minimal extension of the Standard Model with a leptophilic vector boson. By considering specific couplings and constraints, the tensions in some observables can be resolved, while others remain consistent with the Standard Model.

Generalized 2HDM with wrong-sign lepton-Yukawa coupling, in light of gμ-2 and lepton flavor violation at the future LHC

Nivedita Ghosh et al.

Summary: Researchers have explored a generalized Two Higgs Doublet Model to find parameter space that satisfies observational criteria and avoids constraints, with the potential for detection during LHC operations. The region with wrong-sign lepton-Yukawa coupling leads to interesting phenomenological consequences. At 14 TeV run of the LHC, significant parts of the model parameter space can be probed, and this detection capability is further enhanced with Artificial Neural Network analysis.

Summary: The study explores the possibility of explaining the muon g - 2 anomaly using a 2HDM with a discrete Z4 symmetry, finding that the anomaly can be explained within 2 sigma confidence level in specific mass regions. Constraints on the two-pion contribution to hadronic vacuum polarization

Gilberto Colangelo et al.

Summary: This study explores the potential modification of the two-pion contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon without conflicting with low-energy hadron phenomenology elsewhere. By considering the dispersive representation of the e(+) e(-) -> 2 pi process, correlations are revealed between various physical quantities, showing that changes in the phase shift and inelastic contribution could substantially alter a(mu)(HVP). This demonstrates the importance of inelastic effects and suggests possible scenarios where a uniform shift around 4% is required to minimize the effect on the cross section.

Leading hadronic contribution to the muon magnetic moment from lattice QCD

Sz. Borsanyi et al.

Summary: The standard model of particle physics describes the majority of experiments and observations involving elementary particles, with a long-standing discrepancy concerning the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. Ongoing experiments aim to reduce measurement errors, theoretically attributed to the leading-order hadronic vacuum polarization contribution, to distinguish between experimental measurements and predictions. The developed methods using ab initio quantum chromodynamics and quantum electrodynamics simulations favor experimentally measured values over those obtained using dispersion methods, with potential for increased precision as computer technology advances.

Consequences of chirally enhanced explanations of (g - 2)μ for h → μμ and Z → μμ

Andreas Crivellin et al.

Summary: The long-standing tension between experiment and Standard-Model prediction in the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon points to the existence of underlying physics beyond the SM, which may be related to heavy new particles with chiral enhancement and correlations with observables sensitive to EW symmetry breaking can be expected. These scenarios can be classified according to the SU(2)(L) representations and the hypercharges of the new particles.
