A New Organic Conductor of Tetramethyltetraselenafulvalene (TMTSF) with a Magnetic Dy(III) Complex

Qingyun Wan et al.

Summary: A new molecular conductor of (TMTSF)(5)[Dy(NCS)(4)(NO3)(2)]CHCl3 was prepared via electrochemical oxidation. The crystal belongs to the Cmc2(1) (36) space group, with partially-oxidized TMTSF molecules forming a 1D column structure. The crystal exhibits semiconductor behavior with a room temperature conductivity of 0.2 S center dot cm(-1) and an activation energy of 34 meV at ambient pressure.

Recent progress on unusual halogen-bridged Pd(III) chain compounds realized by weak ligand field and triple hydrogen bond approaches

Mohammad Rasel Mian et al.

Summary: The development of new halogen-bridged Pd chain complexes with molecular precision is a promising strategy to stabilize Pd(III) ions for future advanced materials. This review focuses on the new strategies using weak ligand field and triple hydrogen bond approaches to realize Pd(III) halogen-bridged metal complexes (MX-Chains). The resulting MX-Chains exhibit the Pd(III) averaged-valence state and have potential applications in next-generation devices.

Electro-Conductive Single-Molecule Magnet Composed of a Dysprosium(III)-Phthalocyaninato Double-Decker Complex with Magnetoresistance

Tetsu Sato et al.

Summary: A one-dimensional arrangement of an unsubstituted partially oxidized Dy3+ double-decker complex was prepared, showing conductor behavior even at low temperatures. Spectrophotometric analysis revealed delocalization of pi radicals in a 1D column, contributing to the conductivity observed in the system.

Single-Molecule Magnets: From Mn12-ac to dysprosium metallocenes, a travel in time

Andoni Zabala-Lekuona et al.

Summary: The discovery of Single-Molecule Magnets in 1993 revolutionized the field of information storage by shrinking the size of bits to molecular levels. Despite initially operating at temperatures near absolute zero, collaboration between chemists and physicists have led to the development of materials that can operate above liquid nitrogen temperatures. The evolution of SMMs has involved the study of various routes towards high performance materials, with each route essential for understanding the quantum dynamics behind these molecules.
