Green inspired synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles and its characterizations with biofilm, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic activities

K. Velsankar et al.

Summary: In recent times, there has been growing interest in the simple, eco-friendly, and cost-effective synthesis of nanoparticles through green technology. This report describes the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles through both green and chemical routes. The green synthesis utilized Erythrina variegata leaf extract as a capping and stabilizing agent, while the chemical synthesis employed sodium hydroxide as a reducing agent. Various analytical techniques were used to characterize the green synthesized ZnO nanoparticles, including UV-visible, XRD, FTIR, DLS, HR-TEM, EDX, and mapping analyses. The results demonstrated the high crystalline nature of the nanoparticles, their surface plasmon resonance band, and the presence of Zn and O elements. The nanoparticles also exhibited strong antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic activities. These findings highlight the potential applications of green synthesized ZnO nanoparticles as antibacterial and antioxidant agents.
