Solvothermal synthesis of ZnO with controllable morphology

Keyue Wu et al.

Summary: ZnO structures were synthesized by a two-step procedure: hydrothermal method with methanol as solvent followed by annealing in air. The structure and morphology were characterized by XRD and SEM, while the chemical composition was determined by XPS. The optical properties were investigated using fluorescence spectroscopy. The results emphasize the significant influence of reaction time on the morphology, chemical composition, and optical properties of ZnO.

Conduction mechanisms and thermoelectric applications of La1-xSrxCoO3 nanofibers

Fazal Wahed et al.

Summary: Single-phase La1-xSrxCoO3 (x = 0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, and 0.1) nanofibers were successfully synthesized via electrospinning technique. Various characterization techniques were employed to evaluate the nanofibers, confirming their morphology, phase purity, and electrical properties. The nanofibers exhibited semiconductor-like behavior and their electrical conductivity decreased with increasing Sr doping. The Seebeck coefficient increased with both Sr concentration and temperature.

Schottky junction devices by using bio-molecule DNA template-based one dimensional CdS-nanostructures

Sachindra Nath Sarangi et al.

Summary: Creating well-defined nanostructures through DNA-nanotechnology and investigating the electrical properties of DNA-based CdS/Au devices revealed that NWs-CdS/Au devices show enhanced current flow and lower threshold voltage compared to NPs-CdS/Au and bulk-CdS/Au devices. The NWs-CdS/Au device exhibited a large ideality factor and a hump-like feature in C-V measurements at lower frequency, likely due to surface/interface traps at the CdS/metal-Au interface. The differences in electrical properties observed in DNA-assembled NWs-based Schottky junctions could be useful for developing advanced biosensors with higher specificity for medical applications.

Co-precipitation synthesis of cobalt doped ZnO nanoparticles: Characterization and their applications for biosensing and antibacterial studies

E. Indrajith Naik et al.

Summary: The article presents a new modified sensor based on a carbon paste electrode using cobalt doped zinc oxide nanoparticles for the simultaneous determination of uric acid and adrenaline with high selectivity and sensitivity. Characterization and optimization were performed to fabricate a sensor with excellent performance towards the oxidation of uric acid. The synthesized sensor is capable of determining both analytes simultaneously with diffusion-controlled electrode processes.

Z-scheme heterojunction based on NiWO4/WO3 microspheres with enhanced photocatalytic performance under visible light

Jianhua Ge et al.

Summary: A new type of NiWO4/WO3 Z-scheme heterojunction microspheres were synthesized and studied for its photocatalytic activity in degrading methylene blue under visible light irradiation. Results showed significant improvement in degradation rates compared to pure WO3, and a possible Z-scheme photogenerated carrier transfer mechanism was proposed. This study provides insight for the development of Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts in wastewater purification.
