Qiu-Ming Shen et al.

Summary: Limited epidemiological data have been reported in Chinese population regarding the combined impact of several lifestyle factors on type 2 diabetes (T2D) incidence. Associations of four indexes of social determinants of health and two community typologies with new onset type 2 diabetes across a diverse geography in Pennsylvania

Brian S. Schwartz et al.

Summary: This study evaluated geographic disparities in the onset of type 2 diabetes (T2D) by conducting research in a specific region of Pennsylvania. The study found that socioeconomic factors and mobility were negatively associated with the odds of developing T2D, while extreme poverty and multilingual working areas were positively associated with the odds of T2D. Additionally, a modified census tract typology was proposed to more accurately measure geographic health disparities by considering relevant community definitions.
