Surface modification of brick by zinc oxide and silver nanoparticles to improve performance properties

Fatemeh Cheraghcheshm et al.

Summary: In this study, ZnO and silver nanoparticles were coated on the brick surface using chemical deposition to create hydrophobic, photocatalytic, and antibacterial properties of the brick. Characterization of the modified brick nanocomposite was done using various techniques, and tests showed improvement in photocatalytic and antibacterial properties. Flexural strength test demonstrated a significant increase in strength for the modified brick, with reduced efflorescence on the surface.

Novel Strategy for the Development of Antibacterial TiO2 Thin Film onto Polymer Substrate at Room Temperature

Patcharaporn Phuinthiang et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel method for depositing antibacterial TiO2 thin films on polymer substrates at room temperature, showing high efficiency in killing bacteria. The thin film consists of titanium, oxygen, and carbon, with an optical band gap of 3.35 eV. The photodegradation of bacteria under UV-A radiation was highly effective, leading to >97% bacterial death within 60 minutes of irradiation.

Decomposition of dye pigment via photocatalysis process using CuO-TiO2 nanocomposite

Yumatorn Mingmongkol et al.

Summary: The degradation efficiency of dye pigment was enhanced using CuO-TiO2 nanocomposite, with 0.10%CuO-TiO2 showing the best performance. The results demonstrated that the nanocomposite had similar efficiency in degrading methylene blue as the commercial P25, while the pure synthesized TiO2 had the lowest efficiency.

Sustainable, self-cleaning, transparent, and moisture/oxygen-barrier coating films for food packaging

Vu Thi Tuyet Thuy et al.

Summary: The study successfully developed a sustainable, self-cleaning, transparent oxygen/moisture barrier coating on PET film, meeting key requirements for food packaging. The coating, formed through layer-by-layer assembly of nanomaterials, achieved low oxygen transmission rate and porous surface for low water vapor transmission rate, demonstrating high sustainability and potential for applications.
