Synthesis, characterization, and biological activity of cadmium (II) and antimony (III) complexes based on 2-acetylpyrazine thiosemicarbazones

Jin Wang et al.

Summary: The synthesis of four metal complexes and their antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities were investigated in this study. The results showed that the antibacterial activity of cadmium (II) and antimony (III) complexes was enhanced compared to their ligands, with Cd2 and Sb2 demonstrating effective antibacterial activity and Cd2 showing the most effective antiproliferative activity against HepG2 cells.

Applications of radiocomplexes with thiosemicarbazones and bis(thiosemicarbazones) in diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine

Gabrieli L. Parrilha et al.

Summary: Metallic radionuclides have diverse applications as diagnostic and therapeutic agents. This study reports the behavior of different radiometal complexes with mono(thiosemicarbazones) and bis(thiosemicarbazones) as potential radiopharmaceuticals. The application of bis(thiosemicarbazonato)copper(II) complexes as diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals has been successful, while other radioisotopes such as Ga-67/68, (111/114)mIn, and Tc-99m have also been used to obtain mono- and bis(thiosemicarbazone) complexes for potential diagnosis and therapy.

Monomeric octahedral bismuth(III) benzaldehyde-N1-alkyl thiosemicarbazones: Synthesis, characterization and biological properties

Ozlem Aygun et al.

Summary: Due to their chemical and biological properties, thiosemicarbazones and their metal complexes have attracted increasing interest. This study investigates the effects of substituents at the N-1 atoms of thiosemicarbazones and halogen atoms on the type and biological properties of bismuth(III) complexes. A series of bismuth(III) halide complexes were synthesized and characterized. The complexes were tested for their cytotoxic activity, antibacterial activity, and lipoxygenase inhibitory activity. The results suggest that the substituents and halogen atoms play a significant role in determining the activity and potential applications of bismuth(III) complexes.

Summary: A series of new bismuth(III) halide thiosemicarbazone complexes were synthesized and characterized. The crystal structures of the complexes and the free ligands were determined by using single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Biological studies showed that these complexes exhibited activities against selected bacteria and the human breast adenocarcinoma cell line.
