Production of β-glucosidase by Aspergillus niger CDBB-H-175 on submerged fermentation

Cristian Alarid-Garcia et al.

Summary: The study focused on producing high-activity beta-glucosidase at low cost using the Aspergillus niger CDBB-H-175 strain. The experiments revealed that maltose was the best substrate for enzyme activity, and uncontrolled pH conditions in an airlift bioreactor with maltose yielded the highest enzymatic activity. Additionally, orthogonal experimental design highlighted the importance of aeration and acidification of the culture medium for greater enzyme production.

Subcritical water pretreatment for agave bagasse fractionation from tequila production and enzymatic susceptibility

Anusuiya Singh et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of subcritical water pretreatment on the chemical composition, biomass fractionation, and enzymatic hydrolysis of agave bagasse from various tequila production processes. The research identified optimal conditions for the pretreatment process, resulting in increased cellulose content in the solid phase. Enzymatic hydrolysis of the pretreated agave bagasse showed promising conversion yield, indicating its potential as a raw material in second-generation biorefineries.

Effect of solid loading on the behaviour of pectin-degrading enzymes

Fan Li et al.

Summary: The study focused on the behavior of pectin-degrading enzymes in lemon peel with varying solid loading. Pectin lyase was less affected by low water content compared to other enzymes, leading to different impacts on pectin solubilisation. At similar pectin concentrations, pectin solutions hindered the diffusion of hydrolases more than the solid substrate did, suggesting potential benefits for biorefinery processing.
