Deep learning searches for vector-like leptons at the LHC and electron/muon colliders

Antonio P. Morais et al.

Summary: This article explores the discovery potential of singlet and doublet vector-like leptons (VLLs) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and future muon and electron machines. The focus is on a single production channel for LHC direct searches, while double production signatures are proposed for leptonic colliders. A Deep Learning algorithm is employed to determine the discovery (or exclusion) statistical significance at the LHC. Doublet VLLs can be probed up to masses of 1 TeV, while singlet counterparts have low cross sections and are difficult to test beyond a few hundreds of GeV at the LHC. This motivates a physics-case analysis in the context of leptonic colliders, where larger cross sections in VLL double production channels allow for probing higher mass regimes otherwise inaccessible to the LHC high-luminosity upgrade.

Collider signatures of vector-like fermions from a flavor symmetric model

Cesar Bonilla et al.

Summary: In this article, a model with two Higgs doublets and several scalar singlets is proposed to explain the observed pattern of fermion masses and mixing angles. Collider studies are conducted for vector-like leptons (VLLs) and vector-like quarks (VLQs) to determine their statistical significance for discovery at future LHC runs. The results show that VLLs with masses greater than 200 GeV cannot be safely excluded, and VLQs can be probed up to 3.8 TeV in the high-luminosity phase of the LHC.

Search for Higgs bosons decaying into new spin-0 or spin-1 particles in four-lepton final states with the ATLAS detector with 139 fb-1 of pp collision data at √s=13 TeV

G. Aad et al.

Summary: This study searches for new spin-0 or spin-1 bosons using data collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The results show consistency with the Standard Model expectations and set limits on the decay of the Higgs boson as well as on mixing parameters relevant in extensions of the Standard Model.

Search for single production of a vectorlike T quark decaying into a Higgs boson and top quark with fully hadronic final states using the ATLAS detector

G. Aad et al.

Summary: This study searches for a vectorlike T quark decaying into a Higgs boson and a top quark using the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess above the background is observed, so limits are set on the production cross section of the singlet T quark at 95% confidence level. These limits depend on the mass and coupling strength of the vectorlike T quark to Standard Model particles.

Search for Higgs boson decays into a pair of pseudoscalar particles in the bbμμ final state with the ATLAS detector in pp collisions at √s=13 TeV

G. Aad et al.

Summary: This paper presents a search for decays of the Higgs boson into a pair of new pseudoscalar particles. The search uses proton-proton collision data from the ATLAS experiment at the LHC and identifies a narrow dimuon resonance. Upper limits on the branching ratio of the Higgs boson to the bbμμ final state are estimated.

Phenomenology of vector-like leptons with Deep Learning at the Large Hadron Collider

Felipe F. Freitas et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a model inspired by Grand Unification principles that includes three generations of vector-like fermions, new Higgs doublets, and a rich neutrino sector at the low scale. By using state-of-the-art Deep Learning techniques, the first phenomenological analysis of this model is performed, focusing on new charged vector-like leptons and their possible signatures at the LHC. Results show that the proposed method can detect new VLLs before the end of LHC operations and provide important information to constrain the energy scale at which new gauge symmetries emerge.

Search for heavy resonances decaying into a pair of Z bosons in the l+l-l′+l′- and l+l-ν(ν)over-bar final states using 139 fb-1 of proton-proton collisions at √s=13TeV with the ATLAS detector

M. Aaboud et al.

Summary: This study searches for heavy resonances decaying into a pair of Z bosons in different mass ranges, final states, and models using data from the ATLAS detector. The absence of a significant observed excess leads to upper limits on the production cross section of spin-0 or spin-2 resonances. The upper limits are then used to exclude certain models or constrain others, such as the Randall-Sundrum model with an extra dimension for spin-2 resonances.

Summary: The search for charged Higgs bosons decaying into a top quark and a bottom quark is explored using data from proton-proton collisions at the LHC. Multivariate analysis techniques were used to discriminate between signal and background events, and exclusion limits for the production of charged Higgs bosons were derived. The results do not show any significant excess above the background-only hypothesis.
