Impacts of heater-cooler position and Lorentz force on heat transfer and entropy generation of hybrid nanofluid convection in quarter-circular cavity

Nirmal K. Manna et al.

Summary: This study systematically assesses the impacts of heater and cooler positions in four different quadrantal cavities using hybrid nanofluid and oriented magnetic fields. The analysis considers heat transfer characteristics, entropy generation, and the effects of variables like Rayleigh number, Hartmann number, and volumetric concentration. The study reveals that the mutual exchange of heater-cooler positions does not affect the flow direction, but sidewall plays a role in the formation of circulation vortex. The Lorentz force moderates the heat transfer process, and thermal entropy production is the main driver of thermodynamic irreversibility.

Implementation of partial magnetic fields to magneto-thermal convective systems operated using hybrid-nanoliquid and porous media

Nirmalendu Biswas et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the convective heat transfer process can be effectively modulated by adjusting the position, width, direction, and intensity of imposed magnetic fields. The application of a partial magnetic field results in a decrease in heat transfer by approximately 17.15% or 9.71% compared to a horizontal or vertical magnetic field covering the entire length. Local thermo-fluid flow phenomena and heat transfer characteristics are significantly altered by the application of partial magnetic fields compared to those acting over the entire domain.

Magneto-hydrothermal performance of hybrid nanofluid flow through a non-Darcian porous complex wavy enclosure

Dipak Kumar Mandal et al.

Summary: This study investigates the hydrothermal characteristics of an Al2O3-Cu-H2O hybrid nanofluid saturated in a non-Darcian porous complex wavy enclosure under a uniform magnetic field. Numerical simulations show that increasing the amplitude of the undulation enhances heat transfer, but does not always promote the growth of flow strength. Flow intensity and heat transfer increase with the modified-Rayleigh number, while they decrease with the Darcy number and Hartmann number. The local distribution of heat transfer characteristics exhibits complex behavior depending on the amplitude of the undulations and dimensionless numbers.
