Carbon contents and fine root production in tropical silvopastoral systems

Danilo E. Morales Ruiz et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the changes in carbon storage, fine root production, and turnover in tropical silvopastoral systems and found that tree biomass and soil organic carbon content were significantly higher in silvopastoral systems compared to open pasturelands. Fine root production differed significantly between different silvopastoral systems and was positively correlated with soil organic carbon content.

Managing eucalyptus trees in agroforestry systems: Productivity parameters and PAR transmittance

Jose Ricardo Macedo Pezzopane et al.

Summary: Agroforestry systems, including an integrated crop-livestock-forestry system (ICLF) and an integrated livestock-forest system (ILF), were evaluated for their productive characteristics and PAR transmission. The study found that ICLF had greater stem volume than ILF, with no significant differences in total biomass. Both agroforestry systems showed strong correlations between tree basal area and PAR transmission to pasture.
