Unraveling the Mechanism of Near-Infrared Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence of TPA-Based Molecules: Effect of Hydrogen Bond Steric Hindrance

Can Leng et al.

Summary: This study reveals that the fluorescence emission spectrum of CAT-1 is primarily induced by hydrogen bond steric hindrance, which inhibits the twist of the configuration of different excited states. The steric hindrance leads to a more distorted plane, less electron delocalization, and a faster reverse intersystem crossing rate, resulting in longer wavelength NIR TADF emission.
