Three-dimensional Honeycomb MoP@C Nanocomposite with Advanced Sodium/Potassium Ion Storage Performance

Rui Wang et al.

Summary: MoP@C nanocomposite with a three-dimensional honeycomb carbon matrix and molybdenum phosphide was synthesized through a simple method. It exhibits excellent storage properties as anode materials for both sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) and potassium-ion batteries (PIBs). The material maintains high reversible specific capacities of 250 mAh g(-1) and 147.2 mAh g(-1) in SIBs and PIBs, respectively, at high current densities. The excellent electrochemical performance can be attributed to the hierarchical MoP@C nanostructure, which provides higher conductivity, larger specific surface area, and inhibits aggregation and volume expansion.

Hybridization of Layered Titanium Oxides and Covalent Organic Nanosheets into Hollow Spheres for High-Performance Sodium-Ion Batteries with Boosted Electrical/Ionic Conductivity and Ultralong Cycle Life

Minseop Lee et al.

Summary: The research found that by hybridizing layered titanium oxides with covalent organic nanosheets (CONs), the resulting composite material exhibited improved electrical and ionic conductivity, making it a suitable anode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). Additionally, the use of a hollow sphere morphology further enhanced the ionic conductivity by increasing the accessible area for sodium ions. The hybrid material demonstrated enhanced and stable electrochemical performance, outperforming the composite without CONs.

Constructing ion diffusion highway in strongly coupled WSe2-carbon hybrids enables superior energy storage performance

Lai Yu et al.

Summary: In this study, strongly coupled WSe2/PNCNS is reported as an anode electrode material for sodium and potassium ion storage, exhibiting high specific capacities and superior cycling stability. Theoretical calculations show that the strongly coupled hybrids can have nearly zero diffusion barriers, enhancing ion diffusion kinetics and adsorption energies, thus supporting robust Na+/K+ storage capacity. Importantly, the potassium ion hybrid capacitors (KIHCs) display a high energy density of 111.9 Wh kg(-1) and retain 84.9% capacity after 10,000 cycles. This work provides guidance for regulating diffusion kinetics and paves the way for practical applications in Na+/K+ storage.

Sulfur-doped molybdenum phosphide as fast dis/charging anode for Li-ion and Na-ion batteries

Ghulam Ali et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that sulfur-doped molybdenum phosphide (S:MoP) can enhance the performance of electrode materials for lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries, providing higher rate capability and stability. This is achieved through self-doping of sulfur in the MoP lattice, which stabilizes the oxidation state of phosphorus and maximizes ion adsorption sites.

Electrochemical Surface Restructuring of Phosphorus-Doped Carbon@MoP Electrocatalysts for Hydrogen Evolution

Huimin Jiang et al.

Summary: The hydrogen evolution reaction through electrocatalysis is promising but faces challenges in catalyst structure design, electronic properties control, and catalytic site manipulation. A surface restructuring strategy was proposed to design synergistically interactive phosphorus-doped carbon@MoP electrocatalysts for HER, significantly improving performance by optimizing surface/interface electronic structures. The simple electrochemical cycling method developed in this study effectively tunes the thickness of carbon layers covering the MoP core, leading to enhanced activity in both acidic and alkaline environments.
