Construction of Full Solar-Spectrum-Driven Cu2-xS/Ni-Al-LDH Heterostructures for Efficient Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction

Xiang-yin Ji et al.

Summary: Reducing CO2 to hydrocarbons through photocatalysis is a promising method for achieving carbon-neutral, but developing efficient photocatalysts remains a challenge. In this study, researchers constructed a defective Cu2-xS/Ni-Al-LDH heterojunction photocatalyst, which showed excellent CO2 photoreduction performance in both the full-spectrum and near-infrared regions. The enhanced performance was attributed to the fabricated p-n heterojunction between Cu2-xS and LDH, which inhibited electron-hole recombination and improved reaction kinetics.

Carbon quantum dots-modified Z-scheme Bi12O17Cl2/NiAl-LDH for significantly boosting photocatalytic CO2 reduction

Rui-Tang Guo et al.

Summary: In this study, CQDs/Bi12O17Cl2/NiAl-LDH photocatalysts were prepared via a hydrothermal method and exhibited excellent photocatalytic CO2 reduction performance. The CO production rate on C/0.3BOC/LDH reached 16.4 μmol.g(-1)h(-1) without any photosensitizer and sacrificial agent, which is 6.7 times higher than that of the original LDH. The construction of Z-scheme heterojunctions and the unique up-conversion PL behavior of CQDs played important roles in enhancing the photocatalytic performance.

Phuong N. Nguyen et al.

Summary: The current study investigates the electrocatalytic CO2 reduction of [Re(CO)3Cl(N-N)], where N-N represents different ligands. The results demonstrate that these complexes show enhanced catalytic activity and stability for CO2 reduction, which provides a new approach for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction.

Z-Scheme Bi/Bi2O2CO3/Layered Double-Hydroxide Nanosheet Heterojunctions for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction under Visible Light

Yu-fang Miao et al.

Summary: A Z-scheme Bi2O2CO3/Bi/NiAl-LDH nanosheet heterojunction was fabricated using a hydrothermal method, showing superior performance in photocatalytic CO2 reduction with a maximum yield of CH4 reaching 56.64 mu mol/gcat. The enhanced CO2 photo-reduction performance was attributed to the larger specific surface area and efficient separation of photoexcited electrons and holes due to the metal Bi SPR effect and Z-scheme heterojunction.
