Molybdenum-induced tuning 3d-orbital electron filling degree of CoSe2 for alkaline hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions

Sumaira Nazar Hussain et al.

Summary: In this study, the HER/OER performance of CoSe2 was significantly improved by tuning the 3d-orbital electron filling degree through Mo doping. The Mo doping with a higher proportion of the unoccupied d-orbital not only enhanced water molecule activation but also modulated the electronic structures of the Co metal center, leading to optimized adsorption strength of *H. The resulting Mo-CoSe2 exhibited remarkable bifunctional performance with low overpotentials for both HER and OER in alkaline media.

Efficient Electron Transfer from an Electron-Reservoir Polyoxometalate to Dual-Metal-Site Metal-Organic Frameworks for Highly Efficient Electroreduction of Nitrogen

Mengle Yang et al.

Summary: By integrating electron-rich polyoxometalates (POMs) into stable metal organic frameworks (MOFs) in situ, five POMs-based MOFs catalysts are created and show improved electrocatalytic performances for ambient electrolytic nitrogen reduction reaction (e-NRR). The introduction of bimetal Fe and Co in the P2W18-based MOFs can enhance the production of NH3 by reducing the energy barrier. This research opens a new avenue for future NH3 production by creating other enhanced e-NRR catalysts.

Comprehensive overview of polyoxometalates for electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction

Zonish Zeb et al.

Summary: Electrocatalytic water splitting via hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) from renewable energy sources is an attractive alternative to produce hydrogen. However, the large-scale applicability of Pt-based electrocatalysts is limited. Therefore, efforts have been made to develop highly efficient and stable noble-metal-free electrocatalysts. This review discusses recent advances in the coordination structures and HER performances of polyoxometalates (POMs)-contained composites and POMs-derived electrocatalysts.

Amorphous porous sulfides nanosheets with hydrophilic/aerophobic surface for high-current-density water splitting

Xiaoli Wu et al.

Summary: Amorphous CoNiS nanosheets are synthesized on nickel foam (NF) through a facile structure evolution strategy and demonstrate advanced performance in water splitting at high current densities. This is attributed to the sufficient active sites exposed by the flexible amorphous configuration. The hydrophilicity and aerophobicity of a-CoNiS/NF promote surface wettability and avoid bubble aggregation, facilitating mass transfer and achieving low overpotentials for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions under alkaline conditions.
