Summary: A silver sulfide (Ag2S) semiconductor photocatalyst film was successfully synthesized using a solution casting method. The study showed that incorporating Ag2S powder into cellulose films reduced the peak intensity of oxygen-containing functional groups, indicating the formation of a composite film. The crystal structure analysis confirmed a monoclinic acanthite Ag2S structure for all prepared samples, and the photocatalytic efficiency of CF/comAg(2)S and CF/syntAg(2)S films was significantly higher compared to bare Ag2S powder under sunlight exposure.

Development of high-performance bi-functional novel CdSnS2 atom clusters for adsorption of rose Bengal and AOP-assisted degradation of methylene blue

Summary: A glycerol-mediated novel CdSnS2 atom cluster was fabricated using one-pot co-precipitation to address concerns about environmental harm from hazardous organic compounds. The synthesized catalyst showed excellent adsorption and Fenton-like degradation performance on organic compounds such as rose Bengal and methylene blue. The structural and morphological characterization of the material was conducted using various techniques including XRD, SEM, EDAX, FTIR, XPS, TEM, N-2 adsorption, and UV/vis spectrophotometry.

Facile green synthesis of SnS2 nanoparticles using Tulsi extract: insight into the optical and photocatalytic properties

Summary: In this paper, green SnS2 (g-SnS2) granules were fabricated using a precipitation technique with Ocimum sanctum (Tulsi) extract as a stabilising and capping agent. The prepared g-SnS2 nanoparticles were characterized for their surface morphology and physicochemical properties. The g-SnS2 nanoparticles showed enhanced photodegradation of azo dyes in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, making them a potential material for wastewater treatment.

Bio-inspired sustainable synthesis of novel SnS2/biochar nanocomposite for adsorption coupled photodegradation of amoxicillin and congo red: Effects of reaction parameters, and water matrices

Summary: This study aimed to develop a novel integrated photocatalytic adsorbent (IPA) using tea leaf extract as a stabilizing agent for the removal of organic pollutants from wastewater. The adsorption and photocatalytic properties of the fabricated IPA were examined using amoxicillin and congo red as target pollutants. The results showed high removal efficiency for both pollutants using simultaneous adsorption and photodegradation.

Rational design 2D/3D MoS2/In2O3 composites for great boosting photocatalytic H2 production coupled with dye degradation

Summary: In this study, a two-dimensional thin-layered molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) was decorated on the surface of a three-dimensional cube-like indium oxide (In2O3) to form new composites for photocatalytic hydrogen production and dye degradation. The results showed that these composites significantly enhanced the photocatalytic activities compared to pure In2O3, with the 10% MoS2 content (10-MoS2/In2O3) exhibiting the best performance.

One-pot synthesis of CdS/CeO2 heterojunction nanocomposite with tunable bandgap for the enhanced advanced oxidation process

Summary: In this study, a binary nanocomposite CdS/CeO2 was prepared through a one-pot co-precipitation method for the degradation of Rose Bengal dye. The prepared composite showed excellent photocatalytic activity under solar irradiation, achieving nearly complete degradation of the dye within 60 minutes under optimized conditions. The enhanced photocatalytic activity was attributed to the delayed charge recombination rate and a lower bandgap of the photocatalyst.

Cerium-based metal sulfide derived nanocomposite-embedded rGO as an efficient catalyst for photocatalytic application

Summary: By synthesizing Ce2S3-NiS2/rGO nanocomposites, an efficient photocatalyst for treating textile effluent has been achieved. The degradation efficiency of model pollutants MO and BP by Ce2S3-NiS2/rGO photocatalyst under sunlight exposure reached 89.1% and 84.2%, respectively, significantly higher than that of individual NiS2 and Ce2S3 catalysts. This research provides a new approach for the development of capable and adaptable photocatalysts for environmental remediation.

Layered MoS2 for photocatalytic dye degradation
