Summary: This study examines the influence of digital finance and renewable energy technology innovation on green growth using regional data from China. The results show that digital finance stimulates green growth at middle to higher quantiles in central and eastern regions, while western regions have an insignificant impact. Similarly, RETI contributes to green growth primarily in eastern regions, with insignificant impact in western and central regions. Therefore, digital finance and RETI are imperative for regional green growth, but their marginal contribution needs to be improved in western and eastern regions.

Summary: There is a global effort to reduce or eliminate the use of dirty fuels and technologies for cooking due to their negative impact on health, the environment, and the economy. This study examines the role of access to credit and governance in the transition towards clean cooking technologies in sub-Saharan Africa. The findings suggest that access to credit and governance do not facilitate the adoption of clean cooking technologies, and governance variables even impede the effect of credit. The study also shows that economic growth, education, and rural population contribute to the adoption of clean cooking technologies.

Summary: The economies of the emerging seven (E7) are facing climate change challenges and have taken action to reduce CO2 emissions. The study found that economic performance, natural gas rent, coal rent, and fossil fuel have a positive impact on CO2 emissions, while oil rent, renewable energy, investment in energy, and the interaction between investment in energy and renewable energy have a negative impact on CO2 emissions. Moreover, all the examined variables have significant positive relations with economic performance.

Summary: This study analyzes the impact of globalization, economic growth, population growth, renewable energy usage, and nuclear energy on CO2 emissions. The results indicate that globalization and economic growth have different effects on CO2 emissions in both the short and long term. Population growth has a positive impact on CO2 emissions, while renewable energy consumption does not affect CO2 emissions. Furthermore, positive and negative shocks to nuclear energy consumption are found to negatively influence CO2 emissions. Based on these findings, new policies and strategies are recommended for global carbon emissions reduction.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between economic growth and ecological footprint for 16 European countries from 1990 to 2020. The empirical analysis reveals some correlations, including a negative correlation between foreign direct investment and ecological footprint, and an inverted U-shaped curve between GDP and ecological footprint, supporting the environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis. Furthermore, renewable energy is found to have a negative correlation with ecological footprint, while energy structure has a positive correlation.

Summary: South Asian economies have experienced significant development in recent decades, but concerns about long-term output stability remain. The study focuses on the impact of institutional quality, green technology innovation, renewable energy, trade openness, population, and economic growth on CO2 emissions in South Asian countries from 1995 to 2020. Using second-generation panel techniques, the empirical findings show that green technological innovation and renewable energy reduce CO2 emissions, while institutional quality, population growth, trade openness, and economic growth contribute to environmental degradation. The study also identifies a bidirectional causal relationship between green technological innovation, renewable energy consumption, trade openness, population size, economic growth, and CO2 emissions. Policy recommendations include transitioning to a low-carbon economy, increasing investments in renewable energy, improving institutions, and ensuring environmental sustainability.

Summary: India declared its commitment to improving atmospheric health by declaring environmental agendas of turning carbon neutral by 2070 and lowering carbon intensity level. This study aims to examine the factors influencing atmospheric quality in India by estimating a composite atmospheric quality index and analyzing the association between renewable energy use and atmospheric pollution. The empirical results reveal that globalization, agricultural output expansion, population density, and urbanization affect atmospheric pollution, and the relationship between renewable energy consumption and atmospheric quality follows an inverted U-shape.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of energy productivity improvement, good governance, financial development, financial globalization, and international trade on carbon productivity using data from 116 global economies. The findings demonstrate that initially, energy productivity improvement cannot decouple economic growth from environmental pollution, but later on, effective energy use can achieve the decoupling by boosting carbon productivity. Additionally, good governance, financial development, and international trade contribute to carbon productivity enhancement, while foreign direct investment has no significant impact. The study highlights the heterogeneity of carbon productivity influencing factors across countries based on income, carbon productivity, energy productivity, governance, and regional locations. The results suggest that countries with higher energy productivity and good governance are more likely to achieve growth decoupling from environmental pollution, and recommend decoupling policies based on these findings.

Summary: The aim of this study is to test the environment Kuznets curve (EKC) and pollution haven (PH) hypotheses in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Spatial panel econometric analysis using a balanced panel of 35 SSA nations from 2002 to 2015 is applied to examine the EKC and PH hypotheses, accounting for spatial interdependence and individual heterogeneity through the spatial Durbin model (SDM). The findings support the EKC theory for natural resource depletion in SSA, while the EKC theory does not apply to CO2 emissions. Additionally, the study finds a negative effect of trade liberalization on environmental quality, supporting the PH theory.
