Summary: A thermosensitive controlled release system was constructed by functionalizing poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-Allylamine) (P(NIPA-AL17)) and ploy(styrene sulfonate) (PSS) on the surface of hollow mesoporous carbon nanoparticles (HMCNs) using layer-by-layer (LBL) assembly. Results from the experimental design showed that drug loading and temperature significantly affected the cumulative release over 1 hour, temperature significantly affected the cumulative release over 24 hours, and drug loading and number of polymer layers significantly affected the release rate constant. Vibration rate had minimal or no influence on the cumulative release and release rate constant.

Summary: The COP26 Glasgow summit has reignited hope among nations to tackle climate change by securing pledges and commitments from wealthy nation governments. This study investigates the relationship between financial development, governance, and carbon emissions, focusing on the BRICS, MINT, and G7 economies. The findings show that financial development has mixed effects on environmental pollution levels depending on the indicator used. Economic governance and institutional governance play important roles in reducing pollution, while corruption and weak rule of law contribute to higher pollution levels. Additionally, political governance demonstrates a pollution-mitigating effect through accountability, especially in G7 countries. Renewable energy has a negative impact on environmental degradation, while trade liberalization has a positive influence.

Summary: This study utilizes panel cointegration and causality modeling to analyze the factors leading to the growth of renewable energy in China from 2005 to 2020. The findings demonstrate the value of green finance development and private sector participation in the increase of renewable energy sources. For every 1% increase in renewable energy, trademark registrations will increase by 0.487% and financial development filings by 0.144%. When private sector participation is enhanced by 0.032%, trademarks and patents increase by 0.057%. Investment, trade, and human development moderate these relationships. The empirical evidence of this study provides helpful knowledge for policymakers and environmentalists in creating and implementing long-term financially advantageous environmental projects.

Summary: Although energy poverty has gained attention, little effort has been made to understand the relationship between race and energy poverty in developing economies. This study examines the impact of race on multidimensional energy poverty in South Africa, taking into account the moderating effect of subsidies. The findings reveal that Non-Whites, particularly Blacks, are more vulnerable to energy poverty and experience a higher prevalence compared to their White counterparts. Discrimination is identified as a key factor contributing to this disparity, and compensating Non-Whites could significantly reduce energy poverty.

Summary: To address global warming and the energy crisis, shifting from fossil fuel energy to renewable energy is necessary. International efforts, as demonstrated by climate change legislation in the energy sector, have been substantial. This study utilizes panel data from 129 countries between 2001 and 2020 to statistically examine the short- and long-term effects of energy laws promoting renewable electricity generation. The findings indicate that countries with strong legal systems demonstrate a greater impact, and legislative acts have a stronger effect compared to executive orders. Additionally, the influence of energy laws on solar and wind energy is more significant than other renewable sources. Further analysis reveals that higher income countries experience a greater impact compared to lower income countries. In 2020, current energy laws resulted in an increase of 2248.067 quadrillion kWh in renewable energy generation and 1888.341 quadrillion kWh in non-hydro renewable energy generation.

Summary: Using a large sample of 44 countries from 2007 to 2020, this study provides evidence that green finance, specifically green bonds, has a significant impact on promoting renewable energy production. The findings are robust and consider various factors and estimation methods. The effect is particularly strong when green bonds are used to finance alternative energy, and countries with higher emissions, greater climate change exposure, and more developed credit markets show a stronger long-term impact of green finance. Furthermore, countries with low or net zero emissions targets and those that have agreed to the post-Paris 2015 agreements demonstrate a more pronounced effect.

Summary: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic recession led to a decrease in energy demand and consequent shrinkage in natural resource prices. This resulted in a loss of interest and competitiveness in renewable energy projects, hindering the achievement of sustainable development goals. A study conducted in China examined the causal relationship between renewable energy investments and green finance, and found that IR, REO, and GF exhibited more volatility compared to GDP and IEP.

Summary: The robustness of power networks with renewable energy is analyzed in this paper. Critical nodes are identified using the interval electrical betweenness metric and three attack strategies are established. Two models, the interval DC power flow model and the pure topology model, are used to assess the network's performance. The results show that the interval electrical-betweenness-based attack significantly damages the renewable energy power network.

Summary: In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of identifying the determinants of environmental performance. This study contributes to this debate by investigating the effects of financial inclusion, green innovation, and energy efficiency on ecological issues. Using annual data from 2000 to 2018 and employing the novel quantile regression method, the authors find that industrial growth and financial inclusion have a positive impact on ecological footprints. The study suggests the need for policymakers to implement appropriate measures to improve the financial system and promote the adoption of renewable and clean energies.

Summary: This study examines the impact of renewable energy financing on climate change and its implications for the post-COVID-19 recovery in Asian and ASEAN economies. The findings suggest that increased energy consumption and environmental pollution have significantly affected the climate in these regions, emphasizing the need to utilize modern and renewable energy sources for climate change mitigation. Sufficient funds and energy finance are essential for addressing climate change during the post-COVID-19 recovery period. Financial institutions, banks, and finance ministries are recommended to collaborate in pooling funds in renewable energy sectors to enhance energy efficiency and control climate change. It is crucial for all countries to accelerate the implementation of strategic development goals, such as affordable and clean energy (SDG-7) and climate action (SDG-13), to achieve national and global objectives.

Summary: This paper empirically evaluates how different firm life cycle stages influence managers while making firms' input and output innovation decisions under asset liquidity constraints, idiosyncratic risk, and cash flow risk. It finds that firms make more investments in input innovation activities during the introduction, growth, and decline stages in the presence of more asset liquidity; in contrast, less investment is made during the mature stage. The study predicts that firms are more likely to invest in input innovation activities during the introduction, growth, and decline stages under more idiosyncratic and cash flow volatilities, however, such investment is less prospective during the mature stage.
