Coordination of Spatially Distributed Electric Vehicle Charging for Voltage Rise and Voltage Unbalance Mitigation in Networks with Solar Penetration

Joshua Then et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a decentralised control strategy using droop-based control to generate charging schedules for EVs, aiming to mitigate voltage rise and phase unbalance in a LV network caused by PV systems and unbalanced loads. The strategy also smoothes the voltage profile of the network and reduces voltage variation. Using a modified IEEE 13 node test feeder based on a semi-rural Australian town, the impacts of PV and EV charging in the network were demonstrated and the proposed strategy was verified.
