Low-temperature CO oxidation on CuO-CeO2-ZrO2 catalysts prepared by a facile surfactant-assisted grinding method

Xuan Hu et al.

Summary: A series of CuO-CexZr1-xOy mixed oxides with different Ce contents were prepared and their catalytic performance for CO oxidation was investigated. The catalyst with a Ce content of 0.7 (CuCe0.7Zr0.3) showed the best activity under both dry and moist atmospheres. The high activity of CuCe0.7Zr0.3 catalyst can be attributed to the presence of highly dispersed CuOx species and oxygen defect sites.

Influence of the strategy for mixing Pd/La-Al2O3 and Pd/Ce0.5Zr0.5O2 on the activity of three-way catalysts

Han Zhao et al.

Summary: The mixing-calcination-aging strategy can enhance the catalytic performance and oxygen storage capacity of three-way catalysts, but it leads to a transient drop in conversion rate, which is caused by the reduction of PdO.

Ceria-supported Pd catalysts with different size regimes ranging from single atoms to nanoparticles for the oxidation of CO

Kexin Ma et al.

Summary: Supported metal catalysts are widely used in industrial processes, and the size of the metal particles is crucial for the catalytic performance. This study investigates CeO2-supported Pd catalysts with different Pd size regimes and reveals that single Pd atoms supported on CeO2 have the highest intrinsic activity in CO oxidation and promote the CO-PROX reaction due to a stronger H-spillover effect.

In-Situ diffuse reflectance spectroscopy analysis of Pd/CeO2-ZrO2 model three-way catalysts under Lean-Rich cycling condition

Ayumi Fujiwara et al.

Summary: This study investigated the redox behavior of Pd/CeO2-ZrO2 (Pd/CZ) model three-way catalysts through in situ diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, revealing a strong correlation between Pd oxidation rate and the presence of three-phase boundaries (TPB). The study found that TPB abundance plays a significant role in retarding Pd oxidation, with smaller particle sizes leading to more pronounced effects. The ratio of rate constants provides a useful index for estimating the deactivation of the catalyst due to thermal sintering.

Superior TWC activity of Rh supported on pyrochlore-phase ceria zirconia

Jason Wu et al.

Summary: The study shows that pyrochlore-phase CZO materials have a potential as a support for automotive catalysts and exhibit superior performance compared to traditional tetragonal-phase CZO materials. By reducing tetragonal-phase CZO during preparation, the performance of pyrochlore-phase CZO can be optimized, and the addition of other catalysts can further enhance its performance.

Turning poison into medicine: NH3 or urea treatment leads to improved Pd-based three-way catalysts

Han Zhao et al.

Summary: Careful NH3 or urea treatment can improve the catalytic activity of Pd catalysts, while the newly designed CO-TPR method is closely related to catalyst reducibility and total oxygen storage capacity. When using the most effective Urea-PP technology during monolith converter preparation, an outer layer is needed to protect the inner layer.

Precursor effects in preparation CeO2-ZrO2-Al2O3 materials

Wei Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, CeO2-ZrO2-Al2O3 (CZA) materials were prepared using the deposition-precipitation method, where different aluminum precursors affected the textural, structural, and reduction properties of the materials. CZA material derived from Al(NO3)(3).9H(2)O exhibited superior textural properties and thermal stability but limited reducing performance, while those from pseudo-boehmite or Al2O3 showed improved reducing properties but poor thermal stability. Materials from pseudo-boehmite demonstrated better redox performance due to more oxygen vacancies and O beta after aging.
