According to a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2016, the use of antenatal betamethasone in women at risk for late preterm delivery can effectively reduce the risk of severe respiratory complications in newborns (relative risk 0.66, P<0.001).

In the second paragraph of the Neonatal Outcomes subsection of Results (page 1315), the parenthetical data in the first sentence should have read, (7.9% vs. 12.1%; relative risk, 0.66; 95% CI, 0.52 to 0.82; P<0.001), rather than (8.1% vs. 12.1%; relative risk, 0.67; 95% CI, 0.53 to 0.84; P<0.001). The first sentence of the next paragraph (beginning on page 1315) should have read, None of the subgroup interaction tests for the primary outcome or for severe respiratory complications were significant (Tables S5 and S6 in the Supplementary Appendix), rather than None of the subgroup interaction tests for the primary outcome . . .
