The CirCor DigiScope Dataset: From Murmur Detection to Murmur Classification

Jorge Oliveira et al.

Summary: Cardiac auscultation is a cost-effective technique used for detecting and identifying heart conditions. However, the application of computer-assisted decision systems based on auscultation is limited due to the lack of large publicly available datasets. To address this issue, a team has prepared the largest pediatric heart sound dataset, including detailed descriptions of cardiac murmurs.

Usefulness, pitfalls and interpretation of handheld single-lead electrocardiograms

M. Patrick Witvliet et al.

Summary: Single-lead electrocardiographs (1 L-ECGs) are increasingly used in clinical settings for detecting rhythm and conduction disorders. This paper provides recommendations for improving signal quality and a systematic approach to interpretation, which differs from standard 12-lead ECGs. Clinicians can use the illustrations and checklist provided as guidance.

Design and evaluation of a novel approach to invisible electrocardiography (ECG) in sanitary facilities using polymeric electrodes

Aline dos Santos Silva et al.

Summary: This study developed a system for invisible ECG monitoring at home using a toilet seat, with novel materials and sensor designs explored to improve signal acquisition. Testing on healthy subjects showed that certain textures of polymeric electrodes performed better in terms of heart rate and ECG waveform morphology, with a pyramidal texture showing the best results.

Evaluation of general practitioners' single-lead electrocardiogram interpretation skills: a case-vignette study

Evert P. M. Karregat et al.

Summary: General practitioners demonstrate high sensitivity and specificity in diagnosing atrial fibrillation or flutter with 1L-ECGs. However, expert confirmation is necessary when abnormality is suspected.
