SSGCNet: A Sparse Spectra Graph Convolutional Network for Epileptic EEG Signal Classification

Jialin Wang et al.

Summary: In this article, a sparse spectra graph convolutional network (SSGCNet) is proposed for epileptic electroencephalogram (EEG) signal classification. The aim is to develop a lightweight deep learning model that maintains a high level of classification accuracy. To achieve this, a weighted neighborhood field graph (WNFG) is introduced to represent EEG signals. The WNFG reduces redundant edges and has lower graph generation time and memory usage. The sequential graph convolutional network is then extended from the WNFG using sparse weight pruning and the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). Compared to the state-of-the-art method, our approach achieves the same classification accuracy with a ten times smaller connection rate on the Bonn public dataset and the spikes and slow waves (SSW) clinical real dataset.

Summary: This paper proposes a method to predict the click feature of an image from visual features by integrating sparse constraints and an improved RELU operator. The method learns from an auxiliary image dataset containing click information to discover the hierarchy of word semantics. Experimental results show that the method achieves higher recognition accuracy, larger compression ratio, and good one-shot learning ability and scalability to unseen categories.

Epileptic Seizure Detection Using Brain-Rhythmic Recurrence Biomarkers and ONASNet-Based Transfer Learning

Zhenxi Song et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a single-channel seizure detection system using brain-rhythmic recurrence biomarkers (BRRM) and an optimized model (ONASNet). The combination of BRRM and ONASNet leverages the multiple channels of a neural network to extract features from different brain rhythms simultaneously. The efficiency of BRRM-ONASNet on real EEG recordings is evaluated and outperforms other structures, achieving 100% accuracy.

Significant Low-Dimensional Spectral-Temporal Features for Seizure Detection

Xucun Yan et al.

Summary: Absence seizure is a common type of epilepsy that can easily be confused with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Detecting the onset of seizures is challenging due to the unpredictable and non-stationary nature of seizure activities. This study proposes a novel detection framework based on low-dimensional spectral-temporal features, achieving superior performance in detecting absence seizures.
