[2,1,3]-Benzothiadiazole-Spaced Co- Porphyrin-Based Covalent Organic Frameworks for O2 Reduction

Subhajit Bhunia et al.

Summary: Designing N-coordinated porous single-atom catalysts (SACs) is a promising approach for enhanced energy conversion. This study reports two efficient SAC systems, Co@rhm-PorBTD and Co@sql-PorBTD, based on Co(II)-porphyrin/ [2,1,3]-benzothiadiazole (BTD) covalent organic frameworks (COFs), for O2 electrocatalysis. Experimental results show that these COFs outperform commercial Pt/C by a large margin. The design and electrochemical performance of these COFs offer a pyrolysis-free bottom-up approach that avoids creating random atomic sites or unpredictable structural features.

Enhancement of Visible-Light-Driven Hydrogen Evolution Activity of 2D π-Conjugated Bipyridine-Based Covalent Organic Frameworks via Post-Protonation

Lu Dai et al.

Summary: This study focuses on COFs-based photocatalysts, in which a 2D fully conjugated ethylene-linked COF (BTT-BPy-COF) with active sites was fabricated. A post-protonation strategy was employed to fine-tune the active sites, leading to improved charge-separation efficiency and increased hydrophilicity. The optimized BTT-BPy-PCOF exhibited a remarkable H-2 evolution rate under visible light, surpassing a biphenyl-based COF 6 times. Post-protonation was proven to be a potential universal strategy for promoting photocatalytic H-2 evolution and providing important guidance for the design of highly efficient organic semiconductor photocatalysts.
