Optimizing Automated Trading Systems with Deep Reinforcement Learning

Minh Tran et al.

Summary: In this paper, a novel approach is proposed to optimize parameters for strategies in automated trading systems. Based on the framework of Reinforcement learning, a learning environment, state representation, reward function, and learning algorithm are developed for the cryptocurrency market. The results showed that the Double Deep Q-Network setting with Sharpe ratio as the reward function is the best Q-learning trading system, providing positive average returns. In addition, the Bayesian Optimization approach outperforms in terms of cumulative return, volatility, and execution time in daily trading goals, while in long-term trading, it brings higher profits.

Multi-DQN: An ensemble of Deep Q-learning agents for stock market forecasting

Salvatore Carta et al.

Summary: Stock market forecasting is a challenging application of machine learning due to the noisy and unstable historical data. The paper proposes an ensemble of reinforcement learning approaches to maximize return function without using annotations, showing better performance in intraday trading compared to conventional strategies. The results are analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively.
