Study of a double permanent magnet and electromagnet hybrid Halbach array electrodynamic suspension

Cheng Luo et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a double PM and electromagnet hybrid Halbach array EDS system to reduce drag force at low speed and control levitation force through coil current. The formula of electromagnetic force is derived using maxwell equations and maxwell stress tensor method, and validated via a 2D finite-element model.

Equivalent inductance model for the design analysis of electrodynamic suspension coils for hyperloop

Jungyoul Lim et al.

Summary: Hyperloop is a new concept of ground transportation involving travel in near-vacuum tubes at subsonic speeds using magnetic levitation. Superconducting electrodynamic suspension (EDS) is considered an effective levitation system for Hyperloop due to its advantages, and a novel model was developed in this study for designing and analyzing levitation coils of SC-EDS. The model was experimentally validated for its accuracy in measuring induced currents by moving pods.
