Enhanced Electrochemical Performance of Metallic CoS-Based Supercapacitor by Cathodic Exfoliation

Summary: Metallic layered cobalt sulfide was exfoliated into high-quality and few-layered nanosheets using a facile and scalable method. The exfoliated cobalt sulfide showed enhanced ion insertion/extraction and improved performance as a supercapacitor electrode, exhibiting a higher specific capacitance and larger capacitance retention rate compared to the original sample. Furthermore, the button-type asymmetric supercapacitor assembled using the exfoliated cobalt sulfide achieved a maximum specific energy of 9.4 Wh·kg(-1) at a specific power of 1520 W·kg(-1).

Synthesis and properties of oxygen-deficient cobalt oxide nanocubes for supercapacitor application

Summary: The study fabricated oxygen-deficient hierarchical cobalt oxide nanocubes using a simple one-step hydrothermal technique, which is essential for improving the electrochemical performance of supercapacitors. Each 3D-structured nanocube is composed of nanosized spherical grains with moderate oxygen vacancies to boost electroactive sites. The Co3O4 nanocube electrode exhibits a specific capacity of 472.51 +/- 1.8 C g1 at a current density of 1 A g1, and it demonstrates excellent rate capability (65.54% at 10 A g1) and a capacity retention rate of 87.5% after 14,000 cycles. It is anticipated that the synthesized Co3O4 nanocubes will offer promising possibilities for high-performance supercapacitors.

The hierarchical CoSe2@N-TCF/CNTs exhibit superior sodium-ion storage performance.

Performance and mechanism of CuS-modified MWCNTs on mercury removal: Experimental and density functional theory study

Summary: A functional composite adsorbent of CuS loaded on MWCNTs was synthesized for gaseous Hg-0 removal. CuS/MWCNTs showed excellent Hg-0 removal ability, with a maximum efficiency of 85.8% achieved at a 10% loading ratio and 70°C reaction temperature. Inhibitory roles of SO2, NO, and H2O were observed, while O-2 had a promoting effect on Hg-0 removal. The adsorption mechanism involved physical adsorption on MWCNTs and chemisorption on CuS surface, forming oxidized HgS.
