Coordination modulated passivation for stable organic-inorganic perovskite solar cells

Sandeep Kajal et al.

Summary: Despite the recent increase in efficiency, perovskite solar cells (PSCs) still suffer from surface defects and ion migration, affecting their stability. In this study, we synthesized new materials with high binding energy and investigated their effects on defect passivation, ion migration, and device stability. The passivation treatment significantly improved the power conversion efficiency of PSCs, reduced hysteresis, and enhanced long-term stability, even without encapsulation.

Synthesis and characterization of polypyrrole encapsulated formamidinium lead bromide crystals for fluorescence memory recovery

Soumen Sardar et al.

Summary: The impressive optical properties of organic-inorganic lead halide perovskite crystals make them suitable for optoelectronic devices. However, these crystals are unstable in water and other polar solvents and easily lose their fluorescence. This study reports the synthesis of FAPbBr(3)/polypyrrole (PPy) composites and sheds light on the mechanism of fluorescence recovery in the presence of N,N Dimethyl formamide (DMF). Encapsulation of the composite improved the emission quality and restored the fluorescence memory, attributed to the resurfacing of PPy in the presence of toluene.

Perovskite solar cells with atomically coherent interlayers on SnO2 electrodes

Hanul Min et al.

Summary: By introducing an interlayer between the electron-transporting and perovskite layers in perovskite solar cells, researchers have successfully enhanced charge extraction and transport from the perovskite, leading to higher power conversion efficiency and fewer interfacial defects. The coherent interlayer allowed the fabrication of devices with a certified efficiency of 25.5%, which maintained about 90% of its initial efficiency even after continuous light exposure for 500 hours. The findings provide guidelines for designing defect-minimizing interfaces in metal halide perovskites and electron-transporting layers.

Surface Passivation of Triple-Cation Perovskite via Organic Halide-Saturated Antisolvent for Inverted Planar Solar Cells

Summary: By mixing HC(NH2)(2)I (FAI) and CH3NH3Br (MABr) in isopropanol (IPA) as a post-treatment step, improved quality CsFAMA perovskite films with enhanced morphology, electronic properties, and carrier recombination were obtained, resulting in higher efficiency of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). This mixed-cation mixed-halide approach also showed better reproducibility and eliminated hysteresis effects, leading to a significant boost in PSC efficiency.

Polymerization stabilized black-phase FAPbI3 perovskite solar cells retain 100% of initial efficiency over 100 days

Zidan Liu et al.

Summary: The study used an IPCG strategy to polymerize crystal grains in order to suppress the alpha-to-delta phase transition, thereby enhancing the performance and stability of FAPbI3-based perovskite solar cells. The formation of polymer Poly(D) led to increased grain size, defect passivation, black phase stabilization, and moisture blockage, resulting in significantly improved photovoltaic performance and stability of the PSCs.
