Separation from mechanical ventilation and survival after spinal cord injury: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Annia F. Schreiber et al.

Summary: The study investigated the probability of weaning success, duration of mechanical ventilation, mortality, and their predictors in mechanically ventilated patients with SCI. Results showed that around two-thirds of mechanically ventilated patients with SCI can be successfully weaned in ICU, and a higher success rate was observed during rehabilitation with minimal increase in mortality. The study highlighted the lack of clear factors associated with weaning outcomes and the need for high-level evidence to guide optimal weaning in SCI patients.

Predicting Duration of Mechanical Ventilation in Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome Using Supervised Machine Learning

Mohammed Sayed et al.

Summary: This study utilized supervised machine learning to predict the duration of mechanical ventilation in ARDS patients, with LightGBM identified as the best model that showed good performance in external validation. The best early prediction model was built on data captured on the second day.
