Specific features of the VCSEL spectra under microwave current modulation

E. A. Tsygankov et al.

Summary: In this study, we conducted a sequential analysis based on Maxwell's equations to investigate the asymmetry of the optical spectrum in a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser under microwave frequency current modulation. Our approach revealed the non-global asymmetry of the spectrum and a new resonant feature in the dependence of the second sidebands' power ratio on the injection current.

Method of characterizing the multicomponent spectrum of a VCSEL in devices based on the CPT effect

D. Radnatarov et al.

Summary: We propose and experimentally demonstrate a method of spectral measurement for multicomponent radiation emitted by a modulated vertical cavity surface-emitting laser using the peculiarities of absorption in alkali metal vapor. This method allows precise measurement of the spectrum of radiation used in devices based on the coherent population trapping effect when the frequency difference between the radiation components matches that between absorption lines of alkali metal.

Suppression of light-field shift of CPT resonances in optically dense media

D. Radnatarov et al.

Summary: This study presents the effect of optical medium density on the suppression of light field shift in a coherent population trapping resonance excited with multi-component radiation. Experimental and theoretical results both indicate that the suppression of CPT resonance light shift depends on the optical density of the medium.
