A selective alkaline etching strategy to prepare hierarchical Beta molecular sieves for the hydrodeoxygenation of phenol

Hai Yu et al.

Summary: A selective alkaline etching strategy utilizing CTAB has been used to prepare hierarchical Beta molecular sieves. CTAB selectively interacts with crystal defects and protects small mesopores from continuous destruction. The acidity retention of Beta molecular sieves is higher in the presence of NaOH solution and CTAB. The dispersion of Pt on the surface of Beta molecular sieves is improved, leading to a higher deoxygenation conversion of phenol.

Liquid Transport and Real-Time Dye Purification via Lotus Petiole-Inspired Long-Range-Ordered Anisotropic Cellulose Nanofibril Aerogels

Yiming Chen et al.

Summary: This study constructed ultralong anisotropic cellulose nanofibril aerogels inspired by lotus petioles, with uniformly ordered structures of pore walls, achieving rapid long-range directional transport ability. By controlling the growth rate of ice crystals with an external speed, the aerogel maintained consistent orientation. Introducing rectorites enhanced adsorption capacity, particularly for methylene blue, enabling successful real-time dye purification at a long distance.

N, S self-doped hollow-sphere porous carbon derived from puffball spores for high performance supercapacitors

Mengge Shang et al.

Summary: A novel N, S self-doped hollow-sphere porous carbon material was directly prepared from biomass puffball spores for the first time through a simple method. By adjusting the amount of KOH, the electrochemical properties and porous structure of these carbons were explored, and the material obtained at a KOH to carbon mass ratio of 4 exhibited the best performance. In supercapacitors, this material showed excellent specific capacitance and energy density, making it a promising candidate for high-performance supercapacitors.
