HighTGtoHDLratio plays a significant role on atherosclerosis extension in prediabetes and newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes subjects

Roberto Scicali et al.

Summary: The study investigated the association between TG/HDL ratio and atherosclerosis extension in prediabetes and newly diagnosed T2D patients. Results showed that higher TG/HDL ratio was linked to increased prevalence of CAC and femoral plaque, suggesting TG/HDL could serve as a useful marker for predicting cardiovascular risk.

Theobromine ameliorates nonalcoholic fatty liver disease by regulating hepatic lipid metabolism via mTOR signaling pathway in vivo and in vitro

Dan Wei et al.

Summary: Theobromine has beneficial pharmacological properties such as anti-oxidative stress, anti-inflammatory property, and anti-microbial activity. In this study, it was shown to reduce body weight and fat mass, improve dyslipidemia, and mitigate liver injury in mice with obesity. Theobromine inhibits lipogenesis, fatty acid uptake, and promotes fatty acid oxidation by suppressing mTOR signaling pathway, thus improving NAFLD.
