Direct observation of the spin-orbit coupling effect in magnetic Weyl semimetal Co3Sn2S2

D. F. Liu et al.

Summary: The spin-orbit coupling plays a crucial role in lifting band degeneracy in topological semimetals, leading to the formation of Dirac/Weyl semimetals. This study directly observed the gap structure along the nodal line in a magnetic WSM using high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, providing insights into the strong SOC effect in the formation of the WSM phase.

Observation of a phase transition within the domain walls of ferromagnetic Co3Sn2S2

Changmin Lee et al.

Summary: In this study, researchers discovered a phase transition within the domain walls of Co3Sn2S2, leading to a change in magnetization texture. They propose that this transition is a result of the compound's unique magnetocrystalline anisotropy. This research expands the traditional classification of domain walls and suggests new strategies for manipulating domain walls and their role in electron and spin transport.

Unconventional Landau level transitions in Weyl semimetal NbP

Minhao Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the magneto-optical properties of Weyl semimetal NbP under Voigt geometry and discovers abundant Landau level transition modes. The results provide insight into the location and evolution of the Fermi energy with magnetic fields. The combination of magneto-optical spectra under Voigt and Faraday geometry proves effective in determining key properties of topological materials.

Magneto-optical detection of topological contributions to the anomalous Hall effect in a kagome ferromagnet

F. Schilberth et al.

Summary: This study investigates the quantum Hall effect and anomalous Hall effect in kagome materials, and probes the band structure features through optical conductivity spectra. The results show that low-energy transitions contribute significantly to the anomalous Hall effect, which is further enhanced by contributions from higher-energy interband transitions. The study also reveals band reconstructions near the Fermi level due to local Coulomb interactions.

Large magneto-optical effect and magnetic anisotropy energy in two-dimensional metallic ferromagnet Fe3GeTe2

Ming-Chun Jiang et al.

Summary: The recent discovery of long-range magnetic orders in atomically thin semiconductors and metals has opened up exciting opportunities for fundamental physics and technological applications. In this paper, the magnetic anisotropy energy (MAE) and magneto-optical (MO) effects of multilayer and bulk Fe3GeTe2 are studied using first-principles calculations. The results show that Fe3GeTe2 structures prefer out-of-plane magnetization and have a large MAE. In addition, Fe3GeTe2 exhibits strong MO effects. These findings suggest that Fe3GeTe2 is a promising material for high-density MO and spintronic nanodevices.

Unconventional critical behaviors at the magnetic phase transition of Co3Sn2S2kagome ferromagnet

Mohamed A. Kassem et al.

Summary: Co(3)Sn(2)S(2) is a rare example of highly uniaxial anisotropic kagome ferromagnet with frustrated-lattice magnetism and topology. The study of critical behaviors of magnetic transition reveals an anomalous magnetic state below the Curie temperature, suggesting deviations from standard theoretical predictions.

Signatures of Weyl Fermion Annihilation in a Correlated Kagome Magnet

Ilya Belopolski et al.

Summary: The study reports the magnetic manipulation of Weyl fermions in the kagome spin-orbit semimetal Co3Sn2S2, showing the collapse of spin-orbit-gapped ferromagnetic Weyl loops into paramagnetic Dirac loops under suppression of the magnetic order. The disappearance of topological Fermi arcs in the paramagnetic phase indicates the annihilation of exchange-split Weyl points, suggesting new opportunities for engineering topology under correlated order parameters.

Evidence for one-dimensional chiral edge states in a magnetic Weyl semimetal Co3Sn2S2

Sean Howard et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates that magnetic Weyl semimetals, such as Co3Sn2S2, may provide a new platform for the higher temperature realization of robust chiral edge states. The study shows the presence of linearly dispersing topological states confined to the edges of the kagome Co3Sn terraces in the magnetic Weyl system.
