Covalent organic frameworks as promising materials for the removal of metal and organic pollutants from water

V. D. da Silva et al.

Summary: Wastewater pollution with micropollutants in low concentrations is a significant problem that conventional water and wastewater treatment methods struggle to resolve. Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs), as porous materials, have shown great potential for application in separation processes and water purification due to their porosity, crystallinity, and stability. COFs have been used for the removal of various industrial pollutants in water and have demonstrated high selectivity in molecular separation. This review highlights the advancements and potential of COFs in water treatment and purification applications. (c) 2022 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Covalent organic framework as adsorbent for ultrasound-assisted dispersive (micro)solid phase extraction of polycyclic synthetic fragrances from seawater followed by fluorescent determination

Vanesa Romero et al.

Summary: In this study, a new analytical approach based on ultrasound-assisted dispersive (micro)solid phase extraction (US-D-uSPE) using TpBD-Me-2 covalent organic framework (COF) as the adsorbent was proposed for the fluorescent determination of two polycyclic synthetic fragrances in seawater. The method demonstrated high adsorption efficiencies and desorption efficiencies, as well as low limits of detection for the target analytes. It was successfully applied to seawater analysis without the need for a previous sample treatment, showing great potential for environmental monitoring of emerging organic pollutants.
