Do executive functions explain older adults' health-related quality of life beyond event-based prospective memory?

G. Laera et al.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the relationship between event-based prospective memory (EBPM) and life satisfaction, and whether this relationship is affected by executive functions and retrospective memory. The findings showed that EBPM was related to health-related quality of life (HrQoL), but this relationship was eliminated after controlling for executive functions. Life satisfaction was not related to any cognitive variables.

The Relationship between Life Course Socioeconomic Conditions and Objective and Subjective Memory in Older Age

Morgane Kunzi et al.

Summary: This study found that socioeconomic conditions in adulthood significantly predicted late-life prospective memory performance, while it was also influenced by age and self-rated health. On the other hand, subjective memory complaints in older age were not affected by socioeconomic conditions at any stage, but were influenced by the level of depression.

Depression and Episodic Memory Across the Adult Lifespan: A Meta-Analytic Review

Taylor A. James et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis revealed small to moderate deficits in episodic memory in individuals with depression, with older age, clinical depression, and medication usage exacerbating these deficits. However, deficits were less pronounced in memory for negative material and with higher educational attainment. These findings underscore the importance of considering cognitive symptoms in diagnosing and treating depression.
