Root endophytic bacterial community composition of Aconitum carmichaelii debx. from three main producing areas in China

Summary: This study investigated the root endophytic bacterial community composition of A. carmichaelii Debx. using high-throughput sequencing and explored the correlation between endophytic bacteria, environmental factors, and alkaloid contents. The results showed that the root core microbiota of A. carmichaelii Debx. was dominated by Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, and Actinobacteria. The root endophytic bacterial community in the geo-authentic area was distinct from the other regions, and soil nitrogen contents, organic matter, and temperature were identified as the main factors contributing to the community structure. Significant correlation was found between alkaloids contents and certain bacterial genera, with Lactobacillus abundance positively correlated to benzoyl-mesaconitine and benzoyl-aconine contents. This study provides valuable insights into the root endophytic bacterial community of A. carmichaelii Debx. and can guide the isolation of functional bacterial strains.

Multifunctional role of Actinobacteria in agricultural production sustainability: A review

Actinobacteria play a critical role in nutrient cycling, soil quality, crop productivity, and plant health, making them an eco-friendly alternative for agriculture. This review emphasizes the importance of Actinobacteria as microbial biofertilizers and highlights the future needs and challenges in sustaining crop production. Analysis of patents and scientific literature from 2000 to 2020 demonstrates the potential of Actinobacteria in biocontrol and biofertilization in agriculture, as well as their ability to enhance the growth and yield of staple crops. Further developments in industrial applications of actinobacterial bioinoculants are expected as synthetic biology and nano-biotechnology advance.

Evidence for the plant recruitment of beneficial microbes to suppress soil-borne pathogens
