Characterization of the HCN Interaction Partner TRIP8b/PEX5R in the Intracardiac Nervous System of TRIP8b-Deficient and Wild-Type Mice

Katharina Scherschel et al.

Summary: TRIP8b has been found to play a role in modulating atrial electrophysiology in the intrinsic cardiac nervous system, potentially beyond its role in sino-nodal control of the heart. In vitro electrophysiological studies showed that TRIP8b-deficient mouse hearts exhibit increased refractory periods in certain areas, but no differences were observed in heart rate and ventricular refractory period between genotypes. Additionally, while Trip8b mRNA was detected in the ICNS, TRIP8b protein was not detectable.
