Synthesis and spectral studies of Ni(II) complexes involving functionalized dithiocarbamates and triphenylphosphine: X-ray crystal structure, thermal stability, Hirshfeld surface analysis, DFT and biological evaluation

Sajad Hussain Dar et al.

Summary: New homoleptic and heteroleptic nickel complexes were synthesized and fully characterized. The heteroleptic complexes showed stronger thioureide bonds due to pi-accepting phosphine, as indicated by spectroscopic analysis. Crystal structure analysis revealed a distorted square planar geometry for one of the complexes. The complexes exhibited significant scavenging activity and promising antifungal potential against Candida strains. The interaction with DNA was confirmed through hypochromism and molecular docking studies.

Chalcones: Versatile intermediates in heterocyclic synthesis

Yogeesha N. N. Nayak et al.

Summary: Chalcones are an important group of organic molecules that have been extensively studied due to their therapeutic and photophysical properties. They can be used as intermediate compounds in the synthesis of various heterocyclic compounds, especially five- and six-membered heterocycles, which have a long history in pharmaceutical chemistry. This review highlights the untapped potential of chalcones in organic synthesis and provides strategies for chemists to design new heterocycles.

Chalcones: Promising therapeutic agents targeting key players and signaling pathways regulating the hallmarks of cancer

Amr Ahmed WalyEldeen et al.

Summary: There is an urgent need for innovative anticancer treatments that are highly effective and have low toxicity due to the development of drug resistant malignancies and the lack of specificity in current treatments. Chalcones, which are the precursors for flavonoids and isoflavonoids, are readily available and have simple chemical structures, allowing for the synthesis of several chalcone derivatives. Both naturally occurring and synthetic chalcone derivatives have shown promising biological activities against various cancer hallmarks, and this review will discuss their mechanisms of action in detail.

Anti-Cancer Agents in Medicinal Chemistry

Prasad Dandawate et al.

Summary: Cancer, caused by various carcinogens that damage genetic material and alter cell signaling pathways, remains one of the leading causes of death globally. The use of novel natural products as anticancer agents is in great demand to reduce cancer incidence rates by targeting risk factors. Traditional cancer treatments like surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy may have adverse effects, driving the need for alternative methods with minimal side effects and improved efficiency.
