Rutin-Functionalized Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes: Molecular Docking, Physicochemistry and Cytotoxicity in Fibroblasts

Conrado M. S. Neto et al.

Summary: In this study, Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNT) were functionalized with rutin through three steps and then investigated for their physicochemical properties. The formation of rutin-functionalized MWCNT occurred through hydrogen bonds and exhibited a tubular shape in a three-dimensional structure. Mild cytotoxicity was observed in 3T3 fibroblasts, indicating a dose-effect relationship and the formation of aggregates of filamentous structures on the cells.

Intense Raman D Band without Disorder in Flattened Carbon Nanotubes

Emmanuel Picheau et al.

Summary: Above a critical diameter, carbon nanotubes collapse into flattened forms, leading to unique Raman spectra changes. The presence of edge cavities and curvature changes near the edges activate a D band despite overall continuity in the structure. The differing perspectives of chemists and physicists on defects in carbon structures may lead to confusion for researchers in nanotechnologies.

Carbon nanotubes for cardiac tissue regeneration: State of the art and perspectives

Myriam Barrejon et al.

Summary: Carbon nanotubes have shown great potential as innovative components for developing next-generation scaffolds for cardiac tissue regeneration. Their unique mechanical and electronic properties, along with the ability to be chemically modified, make them promising candidates for engineered cardiac constructs. The integration of CNTs with polymeric scaffolds can boost the behavior of cardiomyocytes and mimic the structure of the myocardium, showing promising prospects for cardiac regeneration.

Development of a New Formulation Based on In Situ Photopolymerized Polymer for the Treatment of Spinal Cord Injury

Gabrielle B. Novais et al.

Summary: Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) triggers inflammatory events leading to neuronal death and scar formation, hindering tissue regeneration. Biomaterials like GelMA are proposed for SCI treatment due to their biocompatibility and mechanical properties. GelMA hydrogels containing HERP were found to promote recovery and reduce inflammation in experimental SCI models.
