Na3SiS3F: A Wide Bandgap Fluorothiosilicate with Unique [SiS3F] Unit and High Laser-Induced Damage Threshold

Na3SiS3F exhibits a wide bandgap of 4.75 eV, high laser damage induced threshold (approximately 5 times that of AgGaS2), moderate NLO response, large birefringence, and wide IR transparent region. This research provides a promising IR NLO material for high-power laser applications and opens up a new avenue for the design of new wide bandgap IR NLO materials based on NLO-active [SiSiF4-x] (x = 1, 2, 3) mixed anionic tetrahedral group.

Recent advances in IR nonlinear optical chalcogenides with well-balanced comprehensive performance

Evaluating refractive index and birefringence of nonlinear optical crystals: Classical methods and new developments

An Antimony(III) Fluoride Oxalate with Large Birefringence

Summary: Three new quaternary noncentrosymmetric sulfides, Ba-6(Cu1.9Mg1.1)Ge4S16, Ba-6(Cu2.2Mn0.8)Ge4S16, and Ba-6(Cu1.6Cd1.4)Ge4S16, have been synthesized and their crystal structures revealed to have good structural flexibility and similar characteristics. Divalent metals doped into the structure play a significant role in tuning the band gaps of the compounds, enhancing the Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) response and increasing the Laser Damage Threshold (LDT).
