Ordered Alignment of Liquid Crystalline Graphene Fluoride for Significantly Enhancing Thermal Conductivities of Liquid Crystalline Polyimide Composite Films

Kunpeng Ruan et al.

Summary: In this study, liquid crystalline modification was performed on graphene fluoride (LC-GeF) to achieve ordered alignment, and a thermally conductive liquid crystalline polyimide (LC-PI) matrix was utilized to fabricate thermally conductive LC-GeF/LC-PI composite films. These films exhibited significantly improved thermal conductivity, insulation, mechanical, and thermal properties compared to normal PI films and LC-PI films.

Green Topochemical Esterification Effects on the Supramolecular Structure of Chitin Nanocrystals: Implications for Highly Stable Pickering Emulsions

Chiara Magnani et al.

Summary: In this study, chitin nanocrystals (ChNCs) were extracted using a waterborne topochemical one-pot acid hydrolysis/Fischer esterification method, and their surfaces were simultaneously decorated with lactate or butyrate moieties. The modified ChNC colloids showed a gel-like phase, disrupting the formation of liquid crystalline clusters. Pickering emulsions prepared from lyophilized nanocrystals demonstrated that the individualization of the modified ChNCs can be regenerated from the dry state.
